Moving House Checklist – Article #3
Continuing on through our Moving House Checklist series, this week we will be sharing with you some tips on what you should do 1 week out from the move.
1 week until moving day
- Set aside your bed linens and towels to be used on the first night so beds can be made up as soon as possible on moving day.
- Draw up a room plan for your new home with the furniture placement so you can maximise space in your new place.
- Ensure your car has been checked and serviced if you are travelling a long distance.
- Indoor plants should be lightly watered and packed into plastic lined boxes.
- Cancel the newspaper and other deliveries to your old address.
- If you have purchased a new home, ensure you have a final inspection the day before settlement to ensure the home is as you bought it, and the fittings and fixtures outlined in the contract remain.
- Redirect your mail to the new address through your local Australia Post.
- Prepare an ‘Essentials’ box that contains important items such as remote controls, shelf supports, bed legs, keys, telephone chargers, telephone handsets, furniture assembly instructions. You never want to lose these items on moving day!
